Jim is the Pack’s Chief of Security. His attention to detail is meticulous. He notices everything and forgets nothing. He is fiercely independent and a powerful opponent. He is Curran’s best friend. He accepts Curran authority as Beast Lord; however, Jim enjoys a greater degree of autonomy than other Pack alphas, because Curran is aware that Jim is smarter than him and he generally leaves him to do his job as Jim sees fit. Jim has many aliases and including Jim Black, as he’s known in the Mercenary Guild

- When a lynx girl went loup, Jim’s father couldn’t kill her. He hid her and took tissue samplesto try to find a cure. She broke out and killed two people, including a pregnant woman. Received 25 to life sentence. His second day in prison a man named David Stiles stabbed him in the liver. He died.

Jim is just a hottie! Brains, body, attitude. What’s not to love.
He’s younger than I thought! Damn, I hate when I get that wrong. Love the bio but what of Damael, his middle name, which Kate pulls out to quell him with in Magic Strikes, after he’s really ticked her off? It’s an unusual mesh with ‘James’ and ‘Shrapshire’ and methinks there must be a story behind it. Or maybe I’m just being greedy.
When I read in Kate 3 that Jim’s name was “Shrapshire”, all I could think of was that Daffy Duck cartoon, where Daffy is a Sherlock Holmes-like character (Porky Pig being Watsonian), and they are trying to catch the Shrapshire Slasher. Go ahead, try saying it fast 3 times! I nearly spewed my tea. Thanks so much for that.

yeah, it’s set in the future. I think Magic Slays happened 2041.
