Who is the lovely lady in the photo that is supposed to be Kate? She looks just like I imagined. How did this photo come about?
I LOVED the first time she met Curran and called out “here kitty, kitty, kitty!” I fell in love with the series right at that moment and loved it even more going on…! ^.^
I loved when she sent Curran a saucer of milk in the restaurant. I still laugh when I think of that part!

ps: I, too, don’t like that photo for Kate: that girl looks too american… I’m from Italy and she looks enough like me to pass as a cousin but… but she doesn’t strike me as “Kate”. I imagined her more like an ancient roman or greek woman… this one looks like something out of a marvel comic book. good, inspired by the ideal but lacking. u.u

If I were lesbian she would be totally my kind of girl (LOL) I expect she and Curran defeat Roland without dying on the process, and later moves to their ideal house with the white picket fence (Ok, second part totally ironic, but funny to imagine Kate´s reaction to the statement. If I were the casting agent, and I didn’t have to worry about her age, I’d choose Claudia Black for Kate. She’s the Australian actress who plays Aerin in “Farscape”. She’s got the exotic dark looks, could do the kick ass attitude. If she could pull off an American accent and was about 20 years younger, she’d be perfect.
One of my ultimate favorite lines is in Book 3 right after their 3rd competition…

I stumbled upon this series a month ago and I’m in love. I’ve read almost every other fantasy series imaginable and this one requires my devotion. I’m absolutely in love.
I stumbled upon this series & ‘Edge’ December 2010. I then didn’t stop until I bought all in audio. I enjoyed them so much much that now my daughter is hooked. Anyone who has driven in ‘bayou’ country has wondered if there is a secret world behind the trees & swamps. Kate & her personality is serious fun. I hope you do a novelete about Symon.
I find the woman on the photo don’t looks like Kate. Her hair is good, but the rest? NO! in the books stand that Kate looks exotic and here she don’t looks exotic. ich think she looks like a roman queen or a greek queen.
Maybe I’m crazy, but the photo looks pretty good to me. I know that Kate may not be genetically Russian, but I still picture her that way (maybe her mother was?) I look at the photo and wouldn’t be surprised if she spoke Russian. (Though I’m not sure I’d say the same of Ilona if I didn’t know better. Maybe I don’t know what “Russian” looks like?)
I get the feeling that Kate’s “russianess” comes from her father, Voron, and his cultural references. No word from the Gordons on Kate’s mother’s identity, but if I had to guess, I would put her biological father Roland’s genetics firmly in the middle east, the Tigris and the Euphrates.

I love this series. Just recently started reading the books. I bought the first one, loved it. Snatched up through book 4, read through them in near record speed-for me anyway. I only had to wait a few weeks for Magic Slays, which I just finished tonight. I hope there are many more to follow, well past the 7 already under contract. Jim Butcher is up to book 13 or so and plans at least 20 total. If he can do, so can you….
Kate needs to ‘power up’ before taking on Roland. She needs more magic training and practice, if she is to stand a chance against him. Also, she needs a lot more power words. Which means she also will have to pratice them once she ‘owns’ them. She needs the people to teach her what they know about controlling the vamps. She also needs to witches to teach her. to conclude we need more than two more books before the show down.
well, now that it’s said that Kate’s mum is actually Ukranian-(ish?), I think that the girl is too American looking. haha I don’t know. ^_^
You need MORE BOOKS I still have to wait for Magic Slays but your bboks are really really good maybe you should write a YA books that way you can have more fans. Im only 12 and my mom wants me to read YA books

When I think of Kate I imagine Romanian. An exotic gypsy with dark slanted eyes, thick dark hair, skin darker than you would assume.

Kate describes herself on page 20-21 in Magic Bites. That comment stuck with me and this is how I have imagined her since. Not necessarily pretty, but very arresting. Prettiness can fade with age, but Kate will still be turning heads in 30-40 years. That is, if she survives.
I think the series is fantastic. I got hooked when I got book 2 had to go and get the first one now i wait patiently for the next one in the series. then you had to hook me with the edgers series too. so thank you for the joy of reading your series and keep them coming.

Help please, I think I missed something very important in the audio books. What is Kate, what is so special about her blood. Why does she have to clear up all her blood?
I won’t spill exactly WHY her blood is special just incase there are people reading this who haven’t read the books, but what I will tell you is that it is her fear/concern that if anybody else gets ahold of her blood, they will get ahold of her magic (at least that is the way I understad it). The books do tell exactly why her blood is special, especially books 4 and 5, and I look forward to seeing her put her blood to good use!!
My husband and a friend of ours listened to the Kate Daniels series and told me that I would enjoy it as well. Well I have to say that this series has not only grabbed me, but it isn’t letting go and I can’t wait for the next book!! I sarted listening to the series on 10-25-11 and did not want to turn it off. Normally it takes me a week to listen to 1 audio book, but I got through all 5 books in about 6 days and am soo looking forward to book 6. I even have a friend of mine at work hooked on Kate!!
I would totally love to see Kate on TV. As much as a live action series would be awsome to see, I think an anime version would rock as well!! Something for Ilona and Gordon to think about.
