I love that side of Kate, actually, I love all of Kate, she’s not wishy washy like some of heroines today…and I love her conversations with Curran..
*nods* I wouldn’t mind lessons in ‘talking trash’ from kate, but i think it’s one of those things some people are just born with..

I just love Kate’s interaction with Curran. It has been a long time since I have actually laughed out loud while reading. When reading about Kate and Curran I really like their contineous banter, and how Kate always seems to let Curran back her into saying something she will regret later. I totally look forward to her having to serve him his veal steak dinner, or her trying to avoid it. As a side note I totally love the bourdra clan as well, it is nice to see a group so open with their sexuality.
So… I still do not completely understand what Kate is and why it is so important she keep it a secret. So she can polit a vampire why is this so bad?

Kelli — If you’ve read the 3rd book, then you would know that Kate is Roland’s daughter. Not that I didn’t figure that out from the first book. There were so many hints leading towards that.
Yes understand she is Roland’s daugther and he wil want to kill her. I am not sure why Roland is so special or strong and why her letting anyone know she is Roland’s daugther is such a big deal. What does being Roland’s daughter make her other than a person that can control vampires… There has to be something more.
Kelli. Roland is the master of all the vampires. He’s like the strongest person in the world, and he doesn’t like having kids because they try to overthrow him.

I am sooo very addicted to the kate daniels series! Look forward to each and every one which is odd cause i usually find an author with tons of books out so that i don’t have to wait to long for the next installment due to the having to catch up. But I actually started on the first book when it was the only one out. Accident that i even noticed it seeing as how i was just skimming the shelf untill i got to briggs and the cover caught my attention. Keep up all the great work!
Just finished all three books – i do audiobooks so I can multitask… Laughed my ass off while working in the flowerbeds as well as quilting. Little too much gore in the bloodshed but a book that draws tears AND laughter from me gets 5 stars! I’m a diehard booklover.

ms. andrews i am sooo upset i have read they teaser at the end of on the edge and kate is left to stew and get upset. Her heart is broken i have come up with so many reasons for why Curran did this and why it was completely legitamate i just don’t know what to do Kate’s world does not need to be perfect but she definitely did not need to have such a big let down He is the perfect furry Mr. Darcy He is prideful and full of misconceptions and predjudice i don’t need they to end up together forever yet but a little happiness would be nice please please

I do enjoy Kate’s love for adventure and brutal honesty. Also, her trait of mouthing off at the most inopportune moment is hilarious. It will be a sad day for her to ever learn to have “brakes” on her mouth.
Well… I am waiting for the next installment… hopefully it doesn’t crush my expectations.

Will there be a sequel to On the Edge???
First thing first I love this series It took me a minute to even give this book a chance because of its cover. Lets Just say I’m glad I got over that. I bought the 3 books at once because I read so many great reviews on it on Barnes and noble and here that I gave it a shot. But now that I love the series I’m really scarred that the romance between Curran and Kate will not happen until the last book. I would really love to see how they work together as lovers and not just friends/enemies who want to choke the life out of one another. The whole lets tease the audience is getting really irritating really fast now especially since I’m waiting on the next book. I mean really how much foreplay do we have to sit through other than that I LOVE THIS SERIES. Its right next to my JR Ward, Patricia Briggs and Jeanine Frost books.
I’m wondering…did Kate get that tattoo herself or did Voron have it done? Does it have any special powers? Like glyphs or something?
That is a fantatic photo. Congratulations to the photographer/artist. I’m generally in the school of not wanting to see a photo or ‘real’ representation of a character, but this one you’ve got here shows enough to give me a good guideline, but not too much.

I love love love Kate Daniels…She is the best heroine. It was great reading Magic Mourns because you get to see her from someone else’s perspective and she is just as awesome in their eyes.

In book one, Kate just turned 25yo. In book three, we learned that Curran is six years older than Kate. I think that less than a year has gone by since Kate has met Curran. So, shouldn’t Kate still be 25yo? Else, Curran should be 32yo?
I think the photo is a stock photo… I just saw it on the cover of Parker Blue’s “Bite Me” on Amazon. Personally I think the model’s pretty but I’d have gone for a Turkish or Georgian model myself. Kate’s described as having “a face like something on an ancient coin” and that girl just looks middle American. Kate should have a stronger face, (purely in my opinion!) and I softbox studio lighting doesn’t really suit the character either – too gentle, too pretty. Kate’s got more character than that! I actually worked with a model recently who almost had the look I envisioned but we were doing a costume shoot at an archaeological site and so the look was about 2,000 years off.
I think if I was going to do a shoot depicting Kate… hmm… grungy combat fatigues, city night, under a streetlight near some sort of “urban texture” wall, maybe by an alley going back into blackness. Two swords, held back over her shoulders, confident. Maybe make a lion’s head gobo and project the shadow of it onto a wall behind her. It’d be a fun shoot, anyway!

Of course it’s a stock photo. A studio session with a model costs around $500. This site is provided as a courtesy to the fans and has eaten quite a bit of money already.
Well, if I get a chance and a model with the right look I’ll shoot something for you then. And if you like it, you can use it free. I do a lot of trade for portfolio work and have my own gear, so the main investment for me is time. And I’m a big fangirl so it’s something I’ve thought about anyway… so far photography is more a hobby than income source anyway, since mostly I’m traveling and teaching English. I have trouble often choosing between 2 actors as what I would pick for Kate. They both have played the tough girl role very well.
1.)Alexa Davalos who played in The Chronicles of Riddick as Kyra. She pulls of many look but is greek and french.
2.) Michelle Rodriguez she plays the though girl in many even starting with her 1st movie “Girl Fight” then went on to “The Fast and the Furious” , “Resident Evil” and “S.W.A.T.”. These are only a few.
Those are the 2 I would have trouble choosing from if they made a movie which seems to be the in thing to do lately. lol

Please don’t turn this into a movie. Like every other book adaption it will get twisted into something different, taking away the contexts of the book. Also you would never find appropriate actors- come on Michelle Rodriguez uh bland. This world has no one to fill in the postions of Kate and Curran. If you truly value yourself as writers don’t take away a world you have sort hard to create, to have some director butcher it for the sake of making a profit. Please leave your world in the safe confines of its pages.

my sisters and i love this books. The 3 book i read 2 times. We can wait for the 4th book in german so i hope i get it in one week in english. I want to know whats up next to Curran and Kate. I read the novell in original and it was easy to understand. All what i can say is

I agree with Rose. I don’t think that the world of cinema can do this series justice on the big screen. Maybe on TV but I always worry how TV takes license and changes things up i.e. TrueBlood (i love the show but it plays with the mythos of the original)… stay with print for now. I agree with Peggy I think that Alexa Davalos could work as Kate. I just don’t think there is anyone out there as of yet that could do Curran any justice.
I think Eliza Dushku for sure… Mitchelle Rodriguez just doesnt scream Kate to me.
I think Josh Holloway from LOST could pull off Curran…who knows.. Curran is just sooo special.. there are no others like him…Adam from the Mercy Thompson series is awesome to.. but Curran is superior.
I think Hugh Jackman is the right person to play Jim in TV or cinema.

Don´t know why, but I allways imagine Kate a bit like Rhona Mitra. I think she has this look in her eyes that drives Kitty Curran crazy.

Yes, it is the same picture. It’s a stock photo from an online stock photo database. I bought the rights to display it and so did Parker Blue, I’m guessing.
